With the 2010 edition of F2000 Championship Series completed, and the schedule for next year, drivers and teams are now busy finalizing plans for the 2011 campaign. Below is the tentative entry list that we will keep updated through the winter, complete with the status of what we are hearing on the streets.

8000Inc Racing – 1 car squad
Driver – Brent Gilkes (confirmed)

AcceleRace Motorsports – 2 car squad
Driver – Ardie Greenamyer (yet to be confirmed)

Notes: AcceleRace Motorsports is reportedly keen on once again running selected events in the F2000 Championship Series, with team principal Ardie Greenamyer again expected to once again get behind the wheel

ADSA/Wright Racing – 3 car squad

Notes: ArmsUp Motorsports, a leading SCCA Club Racing team, is believed to be interested in expanding into the pro ranks this coming season, with a multi-car operation potentially on-tap in the F2000 Championship Series.

Notes: A series regular the past few years, Bobby Caldwell is expected to be part of the F2000 Championship Series mix again in 2011, likely
returning to a privateer outfit.

Company Motorsports – 1 car squad

Notes: Highly-regarded race engineer Eric Langbein is looking at racing in the series in 2011, having completed the build of his Citation F2009 race car. There is the possibility however that the car may be rented to Tim Minor, whom Langbein has worked with the past several years.

Front Range Motorsports – 2 car squad

Notes: Based in Colorado, Front Range Motorsports is apparently looking at running selected series races this coming season.

Notes: Primus Racing, which ran Rookie of the Year Daniel Erickson via partnerships with other teams in 2009, is reportedly looking at running its own operation this coming season, utilizing the new Firman Formula 2000 chassis.

Quantum Race Mechanics – 1 car squad

Notes: Oklahoma-based Quantum Race Mechanics is poised to run at least a partial season in 2011, having scored multiple wins in both the F2000 Championship Series (Daniel Erickson) and SCCA Club Racing last season.

R-Sport – 2 car squad
Driver - Keith McCrone (confirmed)
Driver – Michael Mazziotti (yet to be confirmed)
Driver – Scott Gesford (yet to be confirmed)
Notes: R-Sport has confirmed it will again be part of the expected fight for top honors, with Keith McCrone and Scott Gesford slated to be joined by series returne Michael Mazziotti.

The F2000 Championship Series continues to expand with HP-Tech Motorsport set to join the fray in 2011. Running a pair of Ralph Firman Racing chassis, the series newcomers will have Venezuelan drivers Giancarlo Potolicchio and Robert La Rocca behind the wheels. The 18 year-old Potolicchio joins the series as the Venezuelan F1600 champion, while the 21 year-old La Rocca is a multiple regional SCCA winner.

Another high-profile racer has joined the chase for the F2000 Championship title, with Afterburner Racecar Parts announcing it will have two-time SCCA National Champion Brian Tomasi behind the wheel. He will race a new Ralph Firman Racing chassis.

Chris Livengood, one of the top rookies in 2010, has confirmed he will return to series competition in 2011, having rejoined Work Racing. Returning to the cockpit of the team's Van Diemen RF99, the talented young racer will again be added by standout race engineer John Walko, with the goal of adding to the one win scored last season.

The list of potential title contending squads has further expanded for 2011, with the announcement that McLaughlin Motorsports will join the series. The SCCA Formula 1000 race-winning team will run one car for karting up-and-comer, Ethan Ringel, and feature former IndyCar Series driver and pro F2000 champion Jay Howard working behind the pitwall.

Afterburner has added another premier driver to its line-up for 2011, with the addition of Niki Coello. The four-time SCCA Formula Continental National Champion will drive a new Ralph Firman Racing chassis, joining fellow multiple SCCA National Champion Brian Tomasi in the squad's first full-season of pro competition.

Alegra Motorsports will attempt to defend its 2010 series title with an all rookie line-up this season, having signed Gustavo Rizzo and Angel Benitez. Rizzo, a 19 year-old from Brazil joins the squad having raced karts, formula ford and stock car jr. in his homeland. Benitez, a 21 year-old from Venezuela enters the F2000 Championship Series as a two-time F2000 champion in his homeland.

The depth of talent in the 2011 edition of the F2000 Championship Series has risen, with Audette Racing confirming it will run a full-season with Remy Audette behind the wheel. Audette won (Mosport) last year in a limited championship run.
