Hi folks,

Please use this official thread to post your submissions for the EFCN Champ Car Atlantic Championship Pool, which will be brought to you by UPRacing.com.

Players are asked to post their projected top-10 finishing order for the Long Beach round. You can adjust your submission as desired up until Friday, April 7, 2006 at 9:00 am Eastern. At that point, we'll lock the thread and get our calculation spread sheet in order.

Prizes will be coming from FormulaCar Magazine and UPR and we'll have then finalized and posted here by the end of the week. This is going to be a cool deal so please inform you biddies so that we can get a good rivalry going here.

Rob, this is not going to be easy....20+ guys can win in this series. People talk about the "hey day" of Atlantic being back in the 70's. I think that is going to change after this Atlantic season. Smile -Dave

Dave,

I couldn't agree more. I spoke with Jeremy Shaw last week about the series as he was at the test. When I asked him who he thought the lead contenders were, he had trouble stopping the list at 10. The Forsythe crew is going to be strong, that's for certain, but you can never count out Bobby Oergel's crew or Polestar with Sciuto and Barron. Also, I have a hunch that the Gelles team is going to surprise some people this year with Simpson and Pecorari. Add in Matos, fresh off his IPS whooping at St. Petes, and Rahal, the reigning SCCA Atlantic Champion, and you've got yourself a great program. And the thing is, I missed another couple guys who could probably win as well.

I think the really cool part is that there is a lot of 'character' in the field. This is not a cookie cutter field filled with foreign drivers that will not generate excitement. There's Americans and Canadians, all with personalities, A1GP stars and big second-generation names who will fuel international coverage, and the foreign drivers have pretty good pedigrees to keep the fans interested. This is going to be fun.
