| FormulaCar Magazine Challenge Series Program: Great Lakes FC/CFC Championship |
The Great Lakes FC/CFC Championship Powered by eFormulaCarNews.com is a regional series for Formula Continental and Club Formula Continental drivers based in Michigan, Illinois and Ohio. Seeking to replicate the successes of the other regional series that have brought the drivers of certain categories together for fun and fast competition, the Great Lakes Championship provides FC and CFC pilots with an additional place to compete, benefiting from large grids and the potential of a dedicated race group.
Run in conjunction with SCCA Club Racing Regional events, the 2008 edition of the Great Lakes FC/CFC Championship will feature 10 races in the Central U.S. over the course of five weekends.
In the inaugural season of the championship, Keith Carter captured the Formula Continental Championship, while Jim Roberts was victorious in the Club Formula Continental class. Last year with neither defending champions returning to the series, Paul Knight was crowned he Formula Continental champion, while Steve Myers took home top honors in Club Formula Continental.
While the Formula Continental and Club Formula Continental cars will run on-track at the same time, drivers will be competing for separate class championships and prizes. The series will not only see the participation of current F2000 marques like the Van Dieman but it will also enjoy the inclusion of great cars like the Reynard, Swift, Crossle, Tiga and Citation.
