With a lap time of 1:27.687 minutes, Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam) proved to be the quickest on the second day (March 15) of the Formula 3 Euro Series tests held at 4.005-km Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Behind the Spaniard, Kimiya Sato (Motopark Academy) and Nigel Melker (Mücke Motorsport) finished second and third respectively.

While the drivers had to cope with wet conditions, during the major part of the first day of testing, day two was held under blue skies and on a dry track. Conditions that offered teams and drivers the chance of testing the new Kumho slicks extensively. At the end of the day, Merhi was the one who made best use of the new tyres. He set his best time rather early, in the middle of the afternoon session.

"Unfortunately, I couldn't go out in the closing stages of the session as we had a clutch problem and there wasn't enough time to solve it," said the Spaniard who had to watch the rest of the session from the pit-wall.

Behind the new Prema driver, Japan's Sato, fourth on the time sheets on day one – finished second, on the dry track.

"My team did a great job," stated Sato. "They provided me with all the information I needed to go fast."

Melker finished third and also proved to be happy with his achievements.

"There certainly are several areas where I can improve but it was okay for the time being," analysed the young Dutchman.

With a personal fastest lap time of 1:27.881 minutes, the best of the Signature drivers, Carlos Muñoz, came fourth, followed by Canadian Gianmarco Raimondo (Motopark Academy), Marco Wittmann (Signature) and Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport).

Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam) was hampered by technical problems, and had to settle for finishing eighth. Nonetheless, he succeeded in outpacing the quickest of day one, Laurens Vanthoor (Signature), who came ninth. Jimmy Eriksson (Motopark Academy) completed the top-10.

The top-three, along with how the North American racers did, will be posted following every session on the EFCN Facebook page, EFCN Twitter page, and EFCN Insider Twitter page.
