| Racing Asia: Korea Event Canceled |
Motorsport Asia has announced that they recently received notification from CKMP, the Asian Festival Of Speed promoter in Korea, that they are unable to proceed with the AFOS event scheduled for May 8, 2011, due to problems with the circuit owner KAVO.
Following receipt of this notification, David Sonenscher, CEO of Motorsport Asia, met with KAVO, who confirmed that they are not in a position to host the AFOS event this season.
"As you know we have tried very hard to support the new circuit in Korea, it is an amazing state of the art facility and we believe that Korea is a very important market for the future of Asian motorsport," said Sonenscher. "I hope that we can look at going back there in the near future, but they would really need to satisfy us that nothing else could go wrong. Two consecutive cancellations is a bit much."
Motorsport Asia has already made alternative arrangements for the three affected Championships.
The newly renamed JK Racing Asia Series will now attend the Guangdong Circuit, China on August 14th. |
