CHARLESTON, W.VA. (February 24, 2010) – Former karting standout and current SCCA racer, Patrick Gallagher will be testing with JAY Motorsports at Virginia International Raceway in March.
Gallagher, a 17 year-old student, began his racing career at age six, joining the SCCA ranks in 2009 with an impressive championship-winning karting resume. Gallagher proved his talent in an F500 by setting the pace during the week of the 2009 SCCA National Championship Runoffs, finishing second. Gallagher was the Great Lakes Division F500 National points champion, as well as Ohio Valley Region Champions Cup Award Winner and Novice of the Year.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a JAY Motorsports prepared Formula Enterprises car," stated Gallagher. "I think it will give me a chance to see how I adapt to a new type of car and also help me decide what my plans will be in the future. I am eager to see how I stack up against the drivers who have been in the class for a few years.”
“We are looking forward to testing with Patrick at VIR," said Team Principal Jay Green. "He had a phenomenal first year in SCCA racing, and we feel that he would be a valuable asset to our already strong driver lineup.”
JAY Motorsports, LLC was founded in 1999 and became the Great Lakes Division SCCA Enterprises Customer Service Representative (CSR) in October of 2005. Since becoming an SCCA Enterprises CSR, JAY Motorsports has won a combined total of eight championships in Spec Racer Ford and Formula Enterprises, which includes the 2009 SCCA Formula Enterprises National Championship title.
