Indy Lights podium finisher's Team PBIR have announced details of its 2010 Rookie Challenge. The goal of the program is to find and develop future stars of motorsports, with two drivers earning places with the Florida-based squad.

In association with the Palm Beach Film and Television Commission, the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council and MCTV / Dragonlake Productions, the 2010 Team PBIR Challenge will feature multiple race pilots getting behind the wheel in Florida with the hopes of earning a place within the Team PBIR squad. The Rookie Challenge will take place during the week of March 16th, at the Palm Beach International Raceway. Utilizing the team's Formula BMW race cars, participants will take to the two-mile road course multiple times for evaluation, completing in excess of 150 miles. The challenge will not however be limited to just on-course activities, as those involved will also be tested physical by renowned driver trainer Jim Leo of PitFit, who will put them through their paces via a full day of the challenge. Last but not least, the drivers will go face to face with a panel of media experts, including leading sports broadcaster Jack Arute, award winning Motorsport producer David Turner and Chuck Elderd, Film Commissioner for the Palm Beach County, with the trio looking at their skills away from the track, with emphasis on what it takes for a modern driver to succeed in the highly competitive and commercial world of Auto Racing.

Following evaluation by all the experts involved in the Rookie Challenge, Team Owner Ron Dixon will select two drivers to be part of Team PBIR. One driver will be selected from the 15-18 age group, and one driver will be selected from the 18 and over age group.

The younger driver will be presented with the chance to become a member of the Team PBIR, competing in either the USF2000 National Championship or Sta Mazda Championship, both of which are part of the IRL Road to Indy and MAZDASPEED Motorsports Driver Development Ladder programs. The second driver will become part of the Team PBIR's multi-car effort in the 2010 Firestone Indy Lights series.

Adding to the excitement, the entire Rookie Challenge will be videoed, in order to create the Team PBIR Rookie Challenge reality tv pilot show, documenting the young contenders across this demanding week.

“I am extremely excited to now be in this position to announce the expansion of the Team PBIR Rookie Challenge and offer this chance to so many more of the young drivers out there today,” said Dixon, who is the father of multiple IndyCar series champion Scott Dixon.

The cost to enter the Team PBIR Rookie Challenge is $7,500 per entry, which includes accident insurance limiting the competitor’s liability across the challenge.
