LONDON, ENGLAND (January 13, 2009) - After a championship-winning 2009 season, British open-wheel star Adam Christodoulou will kick off his 2010 race season as a participant in the Celebrity Karting Challenge at the Autosport International Show at NEC Birmingham on Friday (January 15th), joining Formula One World Driving Champion Jenson Button, along with David Brabham, Allan McNish, and Andy Priaulx in the charity race for Malaria No More.

“I am thrilled to be invited back to the Autosport International Show and for the chance to participate amongst some of the best drivers in the world to raise money and awareness for the Malaria No More organization,” Christodoulou commented. “The Autosport International show is the world’s largest motorsports expo and is a great place to meet the public, sponsors, drivers and allt he other petrol heads in the racing world and I’m looking forward to making plenty of noise in the live action arena.”

The Celebrity Karting Challenge is a unique event, where members of the public have the opportunity to race with and against some of the best drivers from karting, Formula One, rallying and Le Mans. A total of 20 teams, each comprised of four celebrity drivers and two drivers from the public, battle it out for 90 minutes in front of 5000 fans with the race broadcast on Radio Le Mans.

“I was fortunate enough to be on the team that won the karting event in 2008, and was disappointed at missing the event in 2009 while I was preparing for my season of racing in North America, so I am looking forward to this year’s event and racing for the top spot,” Christodoulou revealed. “With drivers coming in from all over the world to participate this year’s race is sure to be a thriller as well.”

The event is organized by the Racing 4 Charity organization, which was founded by sportscar legend and ex-F1 driver David Brabham and Bill Williams, who leads Racing 4 Charity outside his job as a police officer. The organization runs unique events within the motorsport industry to raise money for a variety of UK charities, raising over £300,000 for numerous worthy causes over the past 15 years.

He also finished fourth overall in the main Championship that has fielded many of today’s F1 stars including current World Champion, Kimi Raikkonen, and Britain’s Lewis Hamilton.

In 2008 , he clinched the Formula Renault UK Championship outright and won the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Club Driver of the Year 2008.

In 2009, Christodoulou turned his attention to racing in North America and captured both the Rookie of the Year and driver Championship titles in
he Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear. He was once again a finalist for the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award.
