TORONTO, ONT. (May 13, 2009) - Reigning Ontario Formula Ford Champion Matt White commenced his title defense in perfect fashion on May 9-10, scoring a pair of wins at Mosport International Raceway.
White encountered less than ideal wet and cool conditions in the opening day of action at the high-speed road course outside Toronto. Driving the No. 05 OntrackDriver.com/Sightline Logistics/Skys The Limit/Mortimer Racing Van Diemen, he however overcame the obstacle, leading every lap from the pole position to score the win in Round One.
One day later, White was again the man to beat. Earning the pole position via the fastest lap in morning qualifying, the 2008 series champion once again led every lap for a weekend sweep of the Ontario Formula Ford Challenge season-opener.
"The car was perfect and as usual," stated White. "Nigel Mortimer and his crew did a really thorough job in preparation."
White resumes his pursuit of the 2009 Ontario Formula Ford Championship title on May 30-31, with Round Three and Four taking place at Shannonville Motorsports Park in eastern Ontario. |
