Series champion Anders Krohn scored the inaugural F2000 Championship Series presented by Hoosier Racing Tire victory at New Jersey Motorsports Park on Saturday (September 20th), taking the checkered flag in Round 13. Joining the Andersen Racing driver in the top-three in what was a caution filled race were Brian Graham Racing's Kyle Marcelli and Andersen Racing's Jonny Baker.

In ideal sunny conditions, the F2000 drivers rolled on to the Thunderbolt Raceway circuit in front of a large crowd on Saturday for race one of the season-finale doubleheader. The entire 20+ car field made in through turn one trouble-free, with the polesitter Krohn retaining the lead ahead of Marcelli and Baker. Unfortunately before lap one was complete, the yellow flags waved around the 2.25-mile road course for a multiple car collision on the back half of the course, which included CraigsAutoSales.com Racing's Craig Clawson car going upside down.

Upon ensuring Clawson was unhurt and the debris was cleared from the track, the racing action resumed with Krohn getting a good launch at the waving of the green flag. Behind the race leader, Marcelli, Baker, Andersen Racing's Doug Prendeville and ZSports Midwest's Bobby Caldwell retained the top-five spots around the high-speed road course. Given the times shown in practice and qualifying, it came as no surprise that within a few laps a gap appeared between top-three and fourth through sixth place. However after only a limited number green flag laps, the yellow flags were displayed once again around the course for several cars going off-course.

After numerous circuits behind the safety car, the race resumed for a scheduled green, white, check finish. Timing the green flag to perfection, Krohn remained P1 into and exiting turn one. A short distance behind, Baker took over second place via a nice pass of Marcelli in turn one. With Andersen Racing's Doug Prendeville, JDC MotorSports Chris Miller and Caldwell joining the fight for third place, the field went three and four cars wide through turns two and three. Unfortunately this resulted in yet another incident that ended both Marcelli and Miller's race prematurely. Getting the checkered flag next time past the start/finish, Krohn scored his eight win of the year in front of Baker and Caldwell, while Ski Motorsports' Tim Minor, the top Masters driver, and Prendeville completed the top-five.

A short time later, the results were altered following a successful protest of the race going longer than the scheduled 30-minute time limit. As a result, Krohn captured the victory over Marcelli and Baker. Prendeville and Caldwell were classified fourth and fifth, while Minor was the top Masters driver in sixth.

The 2008 F2000 Championship Series presented by Hoosier Racing Tire season concludes on Sunday (September 21st), with Round 14 scheduled to get underway after lunch break on the Thunderbolt Raceway circuit.
