Bring the divisional season to a close, the Northeast Division FSCCA Championship competitors visited the famed Watkins Glen in mid-September. Justin Huffman once again was the driver to beat, extended his winning steak to four in the doubleheader.

Taking to the track for the first-time on Saturday, the FSCCA drivers utilized the standard long course, which includes the famed “Boot section”. One of the few drivers with experience on the course, Huffman captured the pole position ahead of Southeast regular Eric Cruz and Eric Erps. Getting the green flag for the opening race of the weekend later in the day, the top-two in the class quickly built a gap on Erps in third place. With Keith McDonald beginning to challenge for the position, Erps fell to the rear of the field, when he spun at the bus stop chicane. For the remainder of the race the top-five stayed unchanged. Huffman having steadily increased his lead as the race progressed, crossed the start/finish 41 seconds ahead of Cruz to score his fourth win of the season. McDonald completed the top-three in Round Seven, leading Central division race winner Dennis Marklein across the stripe.

Providing the FSCCA drivers with a unique opportunity to race on both course configurations at Watkins Glen, Sunday’s race utilized the “NASCAR” short course. Getting the green flag after the lunch break, Huffman once again led the field into turn one. As he had in the opening race, the Virginia native quickly established a gap on his nearest competitor Cruz. Seeking vital points in the championship, the race order remained constant from start to finish. Winning for a fourth consecutive time and moving into first in the Northeast standings, Huffman captured the win over Cruz and McDonald. Finishing fourth ahead Erps, Marklein moved in the Central division standings lead.

The Formula Magazine FSCCA Championship drivers will now take a quick break ahead of the National Championship race, Nov 10-12. Running in conjunction with SCCA Atlanta Region's SCCA American Road Race of Champions (ARRC) event, the race will pit the top FSCCA drivers against one another at Road Atlanta.
