FORT COLLINS, COLO. (August 16, 2012) - Scott Anderson, the 2011 Skip Barber National Champion and MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development scholarship recipient, heads to the picturesque setting of Road America with focus and confidence as he puts his name forward as a championship contender in the 2012 Cooper Tires USF2000 Series presented by Mazda.

Moving into fourth place in the overall championship points tally, Anderson was finally able to do what no other driver has been able to do all season; beat the top performing cars from the Cape Motorsports stable. The Derek Daly Academy driver has been moving up the time sheets since the opening round of action in Sebring back in March, amassing a series of top-five results and podium finishes. Working closely with manager and mentor Derek Daly, founder of the Derek Daly Academy, Anderson and his Belardi Auto Racing team have been able to progress up the finishing order to secure a second and first place finish at the most recent rounds held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

"We tested at Road America a few months back with the series and it went really well," commented Anderson. "Working with Derek (Daly) on my approach to a race weekend has really put me in a position to be successful. This has included working closely with the entire Belardi organization to get the best set-up on the car for me."

This weekend marks a return trip to Elkhart Lake facility as Anderson raced at Road America last season with the Skip Barber National Racing Series. The Colorado native took the win in the Sunday feature race as part of his championship-winning season. At the recent USF2000 Series test held at Road America in late June, Anderson was in top form and able to run some of the quickest lap times through the two-day official series program.

"Road America will be a good track for Scott. And now he has shown he can win races even in challenging conditions," commented former Formula One driver Daly. "The entire group at Belardi has been doing a great job and Scott has been laser focused on getting a set-up that is fast for him. Positioning is all about doing as many things right as possible. Scott knows this and is working hard to bring all these factors together for continued success."

An expert skier, the Fort Collins, Colorado resident joins the MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development ladder after winning the 2011 BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Championship Presented by Mazda and is racing in the 2012 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda with Belardi Auto Racing. Anderson would like to thank MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development, Skip Barber Racing School, Laser Nail Centers of Colorado and Neuropathy Testing Centers for their support. Anderson is also a member of the Derek Daly Academy led by former Formula One driver Derek Daly.

Away from the track, Anderson resides and attends college in Fort Collins, Colorado. Learn more about Scott Anderson at http://www.scottandersonracing.com.
