ENGLAND (July 8, 2012) - Josh Webster will make his Formula 3 debut this coming weekend (July 14-15), during the high-profile RTL GP Masters of F3 event at Zandvoort in The Netherlands, where he will pilot a Dallara Mugen-Honda National Class car for successful British squad T-Sport.

The 18 year-old from Stowmarket, who is supported by Nine Group, Admiral Solutions & Support and Integra ICT, will make his competitive F3 bow following just a single test day at the wheel of one of the Brackley team’s cars.

Set to compete alongside the best and most experienced Formula 3 drivers from the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series and F3 Euro Series, Webster knows the visit to Zandvoort – which will mark his first ever race at the famous Dutch track – will be the toughest weekend of his career so far.

“This is a massive step for me, a really big jump in at the deep end, but I can’t wait to get out there and learn as much as I can,” said the Suffolk teenager. “The test I had went very well, the team were great and I really enjoyed driving the car. It’s obviously a much higher level than anything I’ve done in my career so far so the aim is to just make the most of such a fantastic experience.”

Alongside his progression into the ranks of Formula 3, Webster will complete his season in the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship, where he has so far taken two wins with MGR Motorsport and currently holds second position in the driver standings.

There is also a plan in place to dovetail the remaining UK rounds of the British F3 season should the required funding be secured. Therefore, Josh is aiming to make additional F3 appearances in the National Class at Snetterton in early August and at Silverstone and Donington Park in September, subject to budget.

His sole test run in the F3 car, which took place at Anglesey in Wales last month with T-Sport, went particularly well and the squad – which took Grand Prix star Sergio Pérez to the National Class title in the British championship in 2007 and last won the crown in 2010 with Menasheh Idafar – is delighted to be giving Webster his category race debut.

“Josh did a really good job during the test”, said T-Sport team principal Russell Eacott, “Taking into account it was his first run in an F3 car he adapted very well, he applied himself professionally and listened to everything the team told him. We are really looking forward to getting him back in our car at Zandvoort.”

Following two free practice sessions at Circuit Park Zandvoort this coming Friday, 13th July, qualifying will take place on Saturday, 14th July, with the RTL GP Masters of Formula 3 race itself scheduled to get underway at 14.00 (local time) on Sunday, 15th July.
