MILLVILLE, N.J. (June 20, 2012) - Jamaican driver Collin Daley got his first taste of a F2000 Car this past weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park as a part of his testing and race program with Group-A Racing. The test was very successful and gave the young driver some valuable track time.
The day started off with getting the 15 year-driver acclimatized with the Group-A Racing prepared F2000 machinery, along with learning the New Jersey Motorsports Park Lightning course. Daley came up to speed very quickly, and did it in a mature and sensible fashion, not making any mistakes.
In the late morning, new tires were put on the car and instantly confidence was gained by Daley and the lap times dropped drastically. From there the Group-A Racing team worked with Daley using in-car footage, spotting corner and the drivers feedback to make changes to help him get the car tuned to his needs, along with getting him to feel what different changes do to the car. They experimented with a variety of aero dynamic and mechanical grip changes.
“Collin did a really nice job today.” said team owner Joe Scarallo Sr. “He drove very smart, and came up to speed quite nicely. One of the things that impressed me the most, was that even though he has a extensive karting resume he listened to all the critiques, tips and advice we gave them and did them as well. Along with that he gave some good feedback for us to make changes for him and improved all day long. As a really nice bonus, he set some really good times especially for his first day in this car and on this track.”
Daley is backed by Madison Financial Group/MSI. It is headed by Horace Madison, a long-time Business Manager from the US. Clients have included OutKast, Usher, DMX, Eve, Ma$e, Arian Foster and Glen "Big Baby" Davis. Current clients include Lil Wayne/Young Money, Meek Mill, Torion; and Reema Major. Plus there are "local" Caribbean clients such as Jamaican film writer/Director Cess Silvera, Singer/Actor from Barbados Kirk Brown, and Jamaican music producer JonFX. MSI in conjunction with Gina Ford of G2 Marketing handles the Management and Marketing responsibilities for CJ. Additionally MSI is starting to work closely with Carole Beckford of Beckford & Associates, to expand their presence in the Caribbean, especially Jamaica.
Collin Daley will continue his testing program this coming weakened before making his pro race car debut the following weekend with Group-A Racing in the F2000 Championship Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
