| F1000 Championship: Inaugural Title Chase Resumes in New Jersey |
A total of 13 drivers are entered for the F1000 Championship Series presented by Goodyear Grand Prix of New Jersey this coming weekend (June 9-10), with all of them looking to end the win streak of Brandon Dixon.
Dixon was the man to watch in the inaugural F1000 Championship Series event at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (formerly Mosport) in May, converting two pole positions into wins. He, however, is expected to face challenges in Rounds Three and Four.
Roswell, Georgia’s Glenn Cooper is looking to move up one spot on the podium, coming off two strong second place finishes in Canada. JR Osborne, who also stood on the podium in the opening event is looking to overcome engine issues incurred in the second round, after posting a respectable third place finish in race one.
Other notable drivers worth watching include Brian Novak, who finished fourth in the season-opener, Jason Slahor who captured the Rilltech-Astra cars Hard charger awards in Canada, and teenager RC Enerson, who battled gearbox issues in Ontario.
Three drivers are making their F1000 Championship Series debuts in New Jersey. Brothers Peter and Ivan Seabrook, who call New Jersey Motorsports Park home, will pilot Stohrs, while Bill McLaughlin from Mooresville, Ind., joins the action in a Firman.
The F1000 Championship Series presented by Goodyear doubleheader at New Jersey Motorsports Park commences on Friday (June 8) with two 30-minute practice runs, followed by the lone qualifying session. Both Saturday (June 9) and Sunday (June 10) will feature a 20-lap race after the lunch break. |
